When deleting text/html from the list of rejected mimetypes, emails with HTML attachments and/or alternative mime parts are still rejected.

I'm also interested in being able to attach HTML files.

Can you elaborate on why the current design is better than the one proposed?

When clicking on a mail containing a patch in the web UI of a mailing list, the user is directed to the patch, not to the thread, which seems inconsistent and might surprise some users.
See https://lists.sr.ht/~sircmpwn/sr.ht-discuss/%3C87bkwtzhjl.fsf@gnu.org%3E
Clicking on the subject line should rather point the thread, like for any email sent to the list. Then, from there, the user can go to the patch by clicking on the "Review patch" button.

In other words, for individual permissions, I would distinguish "subscribe" (for non-sr.ht users) from "browse" (for sr.ht users).
Perhaps just a hint somewhere within the interface that non-sr.ht "subscribers" will not be able to browse the archive through the sr.ht UI.
