Many twitter profiles have been cloned to bird.makeup without the consent of the twitter account owner. It is especially frustrating when the owners have already created mastodon accounts on other instances, causing unnecessary confusion.
Please make the process to be opt-in and/or allow for account owners to request takedowns
nothing is confusing, the cloned accounts contains clear description and links to the "official" account. twitter data is public and like anything else, can be scraped. delete your account if you don't like that

That's one incredibly insensitive reply, for three reasons.
- Might want to check on whether you'd like to face GDPR, California privacy law, DMCA takedowns, or Canada's Notice and Notice regime.
- it's bad UX and confusing
- It'd be much more polite of you on the fediverse to allow opting out of your service, or, heaven forbid, opt-in only.
bonus reason: you're going to make enemies on the fediverse, and possibly piss off your hosting provider.
~fiddlesticks not sure what's your problem. I'm not the owner of bird.makeup, im just a user.
- i just reposted what he said in an another issue/ticket/whatever. the same discussions happened on the birdslive and other twitter to mastodon bridges github repos. public data is public.
- its not
- just ban the bird.makeup instance.
i just want to have twitter people on mastodon, so everyone i follow is in one place and with 3rd party client support. i only moved to mastodon because twitter killed 3rd party apps. i dont understand all this fediverse drama. just follow who you want and ignore the others.
