~cloutier/bird.makeup#18:
Cannot follow user from Akkoma instance

When trying to follow a bird.makeup user from my Akkoma instance, it errors with:

[error] Follower/Following counter update for https://bird.makeup/users/[XXX] failed.
{:error, "id must be a string"}

(extraneous information in the logs removed). May be related to #3 and/or #13?

#3 and #13 are (pretty much) fixed. Would be interesting to know whether it works for Akkoma, too, now.

well, it doesn't work with the public instance, but that's probably to be expected (considering the 1000+ minutes it says it takes to fetch users)?

i'll try with a self-hosted version sometime later

update: just tried with a selfhosted instance (at https://birdsite.joeydrew.studio, but it's whitelisted); still the same error, that "id is not a string."

... however, interestingly, it now says i follow the account, seemingly. although, it still doesn't seem to ever actually get any posts, so it may just be lying about that following status :p

ah! okay, so... seemingly there's something else at play here; bird.makeup simply never is able to fetch any tweets from the profiles i look at. should i open a new issue for now?

yes, in fact! following a different account works!  (also, i didn't realize srht picked up i had signed up for an account since the last time i commented, so that's why there's a different account here)

this can be resolved.
