+1 on this, environment variables are fine but a config file would greatly increase the ease at which one could implement this.

If a server is functioning weird, it may not respond correctly to follow requests. This leads to a scenario where the user is trying to follow a community, but they only see the "Follow request sent!" button when visiting. It'd be nice if they could re-send the follow request, in case the follow request failure was only temporary.
