I think it would be nice if it supports redirecting links in this form: https://peertube.example/w/JustFoRlooKs, which redirect from this: https://tube.metalune.xyz/peertube.example/w/JustFoRlooKs To this: https://tube.metalune.xyz/peertube.example/videos/watch/JustFoRlooKs
It would be nice to have a textfield on the frontpage that would allow you to go directly to an instance (just redirecting to "$BASE/$INSTANCE_DOMAIN") and if that fails giving you an error page that says "Failed to connect to the instance you requested"
Federation errors (e.g. name not resolving) are not handled properly, producing bloaty tracebacks server side and unfrienly errors client side
Add support for deepl.com translation services
First off, thanks for the proposal, it's a very good one. Secondly, regarding the "how are we supposed to handle Autodetect" I suppose we would simply not switch the languages in that case, which would of course offer a rather bad user experience but maybe we can pull it off to make it work somewhat, so.. I suppose we would just send a "change languages" request to the server which would then just modify the URL and send back a redirect with that URL
That's a really good point, and I don't have anything against implementing that, though I will probably not do that myself. This would probably go alongside a patch that adds the ability to chose your own instance and API key, properly. As it is currently more of a hack than anything else.
