Oh, no, I meant on click. Apparently my xdg-open just uses a wrong program that immediately crashes, my bad. XD

I see a few possibilities:

  • Configurable image viewer, open *.jpg/png/gif/webp in that.
  • General-purpose command xdg-open (open on macOS – so maybe make that command configurable).

My main usecase is looking at pictures more quickly.

I would propose to build a filename to save attachments like this:

2020-11-18_11-04-53_general_funny_image.jpg

consisting of the post's datetime, the channel name and the attachment name. This would make the directory with downloads a lot more easy to navigate.

Yes, this appears to work. After some time, all 240 channels were hydrated. I also triggered a reconnection and I got no errors. Great!

Don't forget to also do this for the rehydration when the connection had been lost.

I saw that I'll have to modify my patch already. I'll wait a bit longer before sending patches in the future to avoid more noise.
