Randomly some characters are not cleared when switching mailboxes or updating flags/tags. Sometimes the middle of my screen might look something like:
N g
K w r ( ]
O f d
( r
and the characters are only cleared if some other character replaces them.
what's your terminal emulator?
shell?
value of $TERM?
I'm using:
kitty 0.19.3
zsh 5.8
linux 5.11.1-arch1-1
Value of $TERM?
That's not the kernel version, I want to know the value of the environment variable. Also kitty is very very special, the dev doesn't give a damn about how terminals work everywhere else and uses his own escape sequences and stuff.
In other words, try with a different terminal emulator.
TERM=xterm-kitty
I just tried with xterm (TERM=xterm) and seeing the same issue
Also I just tried without any zsh config to see if it was due to some settings or extensions but seeing the same issue even then
You're barking up the wrong tree... the squirrel is on your terminal emulator.
try with a normal one like xterm, termite, alacrity etc
Okay... so at least kitty and xterm has this squirrel then
can you easily reproduce the issue?
If so please tell me how, simply switching folders?
Yep, for example simply starting aerc in xterm and switching folders. In particular if I go from a folder with a lot of emails (terminal mostly full with characters) to a folder with none (terminal should be mostly empty but there are some random leftover characters).
Doesn't happen for me with xterm
Hmm strange. Any ideas what I might try more to figure out why this is happening?
no sorry... you'll habe to debug on your own.
Actually, I just realised that this seems to only happen if the email subject has a unicode character, then some of the following characters (in particular those following a blank space) are not cleared properly.
~labrat are you able to reproduce with unicode characters? Such as ☕
I'm not able to reproduce it no. Even with a shitload of emojies. And now my inbox looks like crap 🙃
Alright, thanks for trying! Sorry about your inbox haha :P
