Sharing is a hell of a feature. It allows to explore the network beyond those we follow, but at the same time it is a time killer.
I'd love to see a feature that allows to have two timelines: one containing only the content of those I follow and another containing only shared content.
Comments? Nobody ;-) ?
See my answer in https://todo.sr.ht/~tsileo/microblog.pub/37 ; I think for now we will keep only the inbox and the stream timeout.
If you go to "inbox" and filter by
Announce
, you only see shared content from people you follow. This combined with a custom "stream filter" should act pretty much like what you described.
Hm, yes, that's a good start ;-).
BTW: Why is it called
Announce
if it shows shares? Is it possible to click a filter that shows notes/articles/questions only? Or to put it in other words: a filter that shows only content that a person generated by herself - no shares, likes, answers, follows.
This would make it indeed very easy to read a timeline blending out all the stuff that might distract from what the people I follow write themself.
Don't know whether page would fall into this class also. I'd guess it would be a response to something I wrote via webmention? If not, what is page (it's empty for me).
Announce is the official ActivityPub name for Shares. It's silly.
Thanks for the clarification, ~acegiak!
~tsileo, https://todo.sr.ht/~tsileo/microblog.pub/37 sound good to me! Then it would be possible to write some filter that takes actors from a list stored somewhere for which their shares should not be displayed, right?
