Prot suggested adding an indicator like the emacs-lisp-mode dynamic/lexical scope indicators to show whether the drive for the current entry is safe or not.

Adam suggested making that indicator interactive, so that users can click on it to make the drive safe or not (and potentially reload the file, auto-enabling the major mode.
