Open question: how should we handle cursors? Should we add any helper for them?

??? This ticket should be closed, shouldn't it? It has been implemented for quite some time.
Well the base functionality is implemented, but there are still some open
TODOs, so this serves as a reminder. When I prepare the next release, I will go through all open tickets and take a look which ones can be closed.
